Ever heard the phrase "it takes two to tango?"
It's not just about love, it's also about paid ads???
When it comes to paid ads online, everyone spends all their time, energy, and resources on the ads. New hooks, new creative, new targeting tricks. But it takes two to tango... the ad AND the landing page.
For 20yrs people have complained to me about how their ads don't convert, or bragged to me about how their ads are converting like wildfire.
ADS DON'T CONVERT! Ads get clicks.
Saying your ads convert is like saying the billboard rung the register. It's thinking about advertising all wrong. The ad's job isn't to convert, it's to filter and intrigue.
A good ad filters OUT the wrong audience, filters IN the right audience, and stays just intriguing enough that the right people click to find out more.
Then the ad's job is over. It hands that click to your landing page, and the page has to do everything else: build the trust, make the case, close the sale. Your ad found the dance partner. The page has to actually dance.
The hard half of the tango
But landing pages are genuinely hard.
Ads are easy, sometimes even fun. An ad is a 30 second video, or a photoshoot, or a quick script.
The landing page? That comes with compliance rules (Google's long list of what a page must have and must never do, and breaking them gets ads disapproved or whole accounts suspended). With Google ads you've also got quality score to worry about (the 1-to-10 grade Google hangs on every keyword based on how well your page matches what people searched). And then there's design. Copywriting. Split-testing.
Getting it right is worth millions. The difference between a page that converts and a page that leaks is the difference between scaling an offer and shutting it down.
That's why I built myself a Landing Page Grader agent. I needed a nerdy assistant that makes me follow all the rules, so my landing pages are always compliant, high converting, and high quality score.
BTW, did you know a quality score above 7 can actually get you up to 50% off the price per click on your ads? Yea, it's a big friggin deal, which is why this agent matters so much.
And yes, you could build one that follows Meta ads compliance and best practices for Meta landing pages instead. But I'm a Google guy. Follow my instructions, then change out a few things to make it Meta-flavored if that's your platform.
How I built my nerdy assistant
The way I start this build is by setting Claude or ChatGPT to deep research mode (that's the setting where the AI goes off and reads dozens of sources on its own, then reports back with everything it learned).
Then I have it learn everything there is to know about Google ads compliance. Run it again for Google ads quality score. Or Meta ads compliance. Whatever rulebook you need your nerdy assistant to enforce.
The machines go do all the learning. Takes them about 15 minutes.
Then I tell the AI to package all that research up into a nice little PDF, and that PDF becomes the training for my agent. In MindStudio, it gets uploaded as a data source (a reference file the agent reads on every single run... the binder you hand a new employee on day one).
Now my agent grades any landing page like a veteran who memorized the rulebook. I hand it a URL and the keyword I'm bidding on, and a few minutes later it hands back a compliance score, a predicted quality score, and a fix-this-first action plan. Costs me about six cents a run.
